BCCI name 15-man squad for three-match Test series against New Zealand
After an emphatic 2-0 win against Bangladesh in the recently concluded Test series, India now set their sights on a formidable New Zealand. As the three-match Test series draws closer, BCCI has named the Indian squad and the hosts are looking for nothing less than a clean sweep.
Rohit Sharma will be spearheading the Indian squad while Jasprit Bumrah has been named his deputy. From the Test squad that was named against Bangladesh, RCB left arm-seamer, Yash Dayal wasn’t named in the 15-man squad against the Blackcaps.
With the contests slated to be played at home, India will be relying heavily on their spin unit comprising Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav. Apart from the turning quartet, the pace mafia of the hosts also sports a more or less similar look featuring Jasprit Bumrah, Akash Deep and Mohammed Siraj. Mohammed Shami, who was touted to possibly return for the upcoming contest, couldn’t recover and was not named as a part of the side.
As travelling reserves, India have named Nitish Kumar Reddy, who racked up a tornado against Bangladesh in the second T20I, Mayank Yadav, Harshit Rana and Prasidh Krishna in the squad. The series is slated to start from October 16th in Bengaluru while the second and the third Tests will be played in Pune and Mumbai respectively.
