Bumrah is the best bowler across the three formats – Steve Smith

As India prepare for the Australian challenge at the end for the upcoming iteration of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, all eyes will be on India’s pace unit which has been the talk of the town for the last couple of years. Even though the team is yet to be announced, the pace troika of Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj and Mohammed Shami have created ripples all around the globe.

Talking to Star Sports, Australian star batter Steve Smith picked Jasprit Bumrah as one of the most intimidating contenders to deal with, particularly in the Australian conditions. The surfaces of Australia have always been conducive for pace and movement and the kind of form that Jasprit Bumrah has been in ever since his return from the injury, he has been almost unplayable.

Smith said, “He is a wonderful bowler whether I face him with the new or the old ball. It is always a challenge to bat against him. Bumrah is the best bowler across the three formats.”

In the 2020-21 tour of Australia, Bumrah claimed 17 wickets from the three Tests that he played while in the 2018-19 edition of the series, he scalped 21 wickets. However, the ongoing form of Jasprit Bumrah has been an absolute nightmare for the batters and Steve Smith knows that the Aussies will have to be very careful when it comes to dealing with India’s generational talent.
