Border-Gavaskar Trophy: Virat Kohli scripted yet another record

During the ongoing first Test at the Adelaide Oval, Virat Kohli brought up yet another record. With 851 runs to his name, he became the Indian captain with the most number of runs against Australia in Tests.

The talismanic batsman broke the 51-year record previously held by MAK Pataudi, who scored 829 runs as captain against Australia. On a track where runs seemed hard to come by, Virat Kohli held fort at one end, scoring 74 runs off 180 balls.

Just when the skipper looked set to bring up his first century of this year, Ajinkya Rahane and Virat Kohli were involved in a huge mix-up. Rahane, who drove the ball to the mid-off, called for a run. Realising that he won't make it in time, he baulked a bit after showing his intention to run. Kohli failed to make it to the non-striker's end on time. The unfortunate event triggered a batting collapse with India losing their last six wickets for just 56 runs.

This was only the second instance where the 32-year-old was run out in Test cricket.
