BCCI reveal cash prize for ICC Champions Trophy winners

India scripted history on 9th March by clinching their third ICC Champions Trophy, leapfrogging Australia’s tally of two titles in the tournament. A sensational show of resilience in all departments allowed India to be unbeaten throughout the tournament and an even better display in the summit clash propelled them across the finishing line.

BCCI decided to award INR 58 crore in recognition of this incredible feat to the players, coaching, the support staff and members of the Men’s Selection committee. This award discerns all behind-the-scenes hard work that has gone in shaping up the team, pushing them to their limits and eventually making them the champions of the tournament.

India started the tournament with a win against Bangladesh while following that up with another resounding victory against Pakistan in the second group stage fixture. They concluded the league stages with another scintillating win against the eventual finalists, New Zealand.

It was a brilliant display against Australia in the semi-final as Virat Kohli led the charge. After an incredible century against Pakistan in the group stages, Kohli smashed 84, propelling India to the summit clash. In a rollicking battle of technicalities, India edged past New Zealand in the final to lift the Champions Trophy, concluding a dearth of 12 long years.
