BCCI proposes a six-team plan for women’s IPL

The Board of Cricket Council in India has proposed a six-team women’s IPL from the upcoming year. The proposal came after a Governing Council meeting of the Indian Premier League in Mumbai on March 25th.

The existing committee came to the decision that a drive will be made to conduct a six-team women’s IPL with the current franchises being given the first preference. This year, things will be normal with the Women’s T20 Challenge going forth.

The GC believes that there is ample opportunity for women’s IPL to unfold and with the sponsorships pouring in for the Women’s T20 Challenge, a women’s IPL will be getting similar attention.

In another remarkable decision, the GC has given a green signal for the media rights tender to be released for the IPL cycle of 2023-27. The invitation for the tender document will be available by Tuesday at the latest. The minimum net worth stipulated to apply for the tender is of Rs 1000 crore.
