BCCI issues official statement on Rohit Sharma's injury
In an unfortunate incident, Rohit Sharma ended up injuring his thumb in the second ODI against Bangladesh which will sideline him for a while now. He is not going to be a part of the final rubber tomorrow and his availability for the forthcoming Test series against Bangladesh that can very well decide the fate of the WTC final for the Men in Blue, is also uncertain.
Post India’s second encounter against Bangladesh, Rahul Dravid clarified that Rohit won’t be a part of the final ODI. Echoing Dravid’s words, the BCCI secretary, Jay Shah issued a statement that confirmed that Rohit was not going to be a part of the last ODI, while his availability for the upcoming Tests will be decided later.
Shah’s statement read, “The BCCI Medical Team assessed him and he underwent scans at a local hospital in Dhaka. He has flown to Mumbai for specialist consultation and will miss the final ODI. A call on his availability for the upcoming Test series will be taken later.”
As far as the reports go, in all likelihood, Rohit has dislocated his finger, even though an official confirmation is still to be released by BCCI.
India has a hectic schedule in the coming months as the apex cricketing authority of the country released the home schedule for Team India against Sri Lanka, New Zealand and Australia. Keeping in mind the rigorous fixtures to arrive, the Indian management may well opt to be slightly cautious in terms of bringing Rohit back in.
