BCCI invites applications for Head of Cricket at National Cricket Academy
The Board of Control for Cricket in India has invited job applications for Head of Cricket at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru. Rahul Dravid, who was the coach of the Indian team on Sri Lanka tour, is the incumbent.
Dravid was appointed to the role in July 2019 and has helped the next generation of cricketers grow through their experiences at the academy.
With Dravid’s two-year tenure having ended, the BCCI has invited applications according to the protocol. However, ex-RCB skipper is expected to reapply for the role. The last date for application is August 15 (till 11.59 PM).
"The Head Cricket NCA will be overall responsible for running all Cricket Coaching programs at the NCA. He will be responsible for the preparation, development and performance of all cricketers attending training at the Academy," read the job description on the BCCI website
"Rahul Dravid could well reapply for the post but with Ravi Shastri's tenure ending in November 2021 after T20 WC, there is every possibility of Rahul being elevated to head coach's position. Bottom line, he remains very much a part of the system," a BCCI source told PTI.
Responding to a query after the completion of Sri Lanka tour recently, Dravid had said that he was not thinking too far.
"I haven't really thought anything far ahead, to be honest. I am enjoying doing what I am doing," he had said.
