The first T20I which was slated to be played between Bangladesh and India in Dharamsala, which is due to be played on October 6th, has been shifted to Gwalior as per the latest BCCI announcement.

The release by BCCI said, “The change in venues was necessitated due to upgrades and renovation work being carried out by the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association in the dressing rooms.”

The T20I is going to be the first international fixture that will pan out at the newly-built Shrimant Madhavrao Scindia Cricket Stadium. Gwalior is also going to host its first international fixture ever since the double-hundred struck by Sachin Tendulkar in an ODI.

There was also a swap in the venues for the first and the second T20Is against England even though the dates remain the same. The first T20I will be held in Kolkata instead of Chennai on January 22nd while the MA Chidambaram Stadium which was supposed to play host to the curtain-raiser of the series will now host the second T20I.

The BCCI said in a statement, “The venue change was necessitated following a request from Kolkata Police to the Cricket Association of Bengal regarding their prior Republic Day commitments and obligations.”
