Rohit Sharma was named as captain of India’s squad for the Champions Trophy and the England ODI series. The biggest talking point though was the inclusion of both Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami, with the latter set to make a much-awaited  return from a long injury lay-off.

Shubman Gill has been announced as Rohit’s deputy, with Rishabh Pant and KL Rahul picked as the wicket-keepers in the squad. Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer will form the core of the middle order, with Yashasvi Jaiswal, who is yet to make his ODI debut in the 15-man squad as well.

Arshdeep Singh was selected as the lone left-arm pacer, with Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel and Washington Sundar comprising the all-rounders section.

Before India participates in the Champions Trophy, they will be playing a three-match ODI series which will be a dress rehearsal for the Men in Blue. This will be preceded by a five-match T20I series against the Jos Buttler-led side, which is going to start from 22nd January in Kolkata.
