BCCI announce 15-member Indian squad for Women’s Asia Cup 2024; five RCB players make the cut
The ninth edition of the Women’s Asia Cup is all set to roll and it will be played from 19th to 28th July in Sri Lanka in the T20I format. BCCI announced the squad for Team India which will be participating in the upcoming challenge for continental glory.
India’s 15-member squad will be spearheaded by Harmanpreet Kaur while Smriti Mandhana will be her deputy. Including Smriti, five RCB players made the cut for the tournament namely Richa Ghosh, Renuka Singh Thakur, Asha Sobhana and Shreyanka Patil.
The tournament will be played between eight teams who have been divided in two separate groups. India has been clubbed alongside Nepal, Pakistan and UAE in Group A.
The Women in Blue will be starting their Asia Cup journey with a clash against their arch-rivals, Pakistan on July 19th. They will then take on UAE on July 21st while finishing their group stages with a clash against Nepal on 23rd July.
Top two teams from each group will be heading to the semis with the final slated to be played on 28th July. All the games will be happening in Dambulla. Alongside the 15-member squad, Team India has also announced four travelling reserves namely Shweta Sehrawat, Saika Ishaque, Tanuja Kanwer and Meghna Singh.
