Arshdeep Singh crowned as the ICC Men’s T20I Cricketer of the Year 2024
The ICC revealed the first individual award winner as part of the ICC Awards 2024 which saw Indian ace quick, Arshdeep Singh, clinch the ICC Men’s T20I Cricketer of the Year title.
Alongside him, it was Amelia Kerr who was crowned ICC Women’s T20I Cricketer of the Year.
Arshdeep Singh continued to dominate throughout the year with his finest stint coming through in June. He spearheaded the Indian charge at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, propelling India to crowning glory in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024.
Arshdeep claimed 36 wickets from just 18 T20Is, bowling at an average of 15.31 and an economy rate of 7.49. Arshdeep’s left-arm seam wreaked havoc in the shortest format of the game in both powerplays and the death overs.
After winning the year, Arshdeep Singh said to ICC, “I am delighted to win the ICC Men’s T20I Cricketer of the Year 2024 award. The shortest format of the game poses various challenges for bowlers but I consider it as an opportunity to test my skillset and provide success with the ball for my team.”
He further added, “2024 was indeed a great year individually and collectively for us as a unit. Winning the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 was surreal and I am glad I could contribute to a successful and memorable World Cup campaign for my country.”
Singh concluded by stating, “There is no bigger motivation than representing the nation at the biggest stage. I am extremely excited for the journey ahead and I am looking forward to giving my best for the team.”
