308 – A very special number linked with Virat Kohli against Pakistan in T20 World Cup

Virat Kohli has carved many records that would turn your heads over the years but none like the one that he has against Pakistan in the history of the T20 World Cup. We will talk about the records for sure but the one that needs to be highlighted straight away is that of the average, which screams an unbelievable 308.

Well, just to provide some serious context to this mind-boggling number, out of the five matches that he has played against Pakistan, he has just been dismissed once which itself is a stat that would leave you flummoxed. Out of the four games that he has played against the Men in Green, he has hammered four fifties too.

And just in case you are concerned about the scoring rate of the inexorable run-machine, Virat has a decent number favouring his cause with 132.75 right next to his name. So what were VK’s scores exactly?

We will go from a descending number that reads an unbeaten 82 against Pakistan in the last edition of the tournament, a knock that left everyone gobsmacked. The next best however, came way back in 2012 where he bossed Pakistan with another unbeaten 78 on a surface that had a few demons of its own.

Up next is the only game where he has been dismissed and which also remains to be India’s solitary defeat against Pakistan in the history of any World Cup whatsoever where he got out for 57 in Dubai. And erasing all the woes of that one-off, the next number in line is another unbeaten 55 and it came in the Mecca of Cricket, Eden Gardens in 2016.

The only match in which he didn’t score a half-century against Pakistan in the T20 World Cup was in Mirpur in 2014 because the total that India chased was just 131 and more than half of the job was already done by Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan. He stayed not out for 36 as India won the game by seven wickets.

These numbers are simply a testimonial to what VK is capable of and against Pakistan, he turns into a different beast altogether. In cricket’s fastest lane, Virat is someone whom you don’t mess around with and in this high-voltage rivalry, VK is just the full blast electricity crackling through each and every pulse and vein of the game.
