AB de Villiers – Current Form

Former English batsman Michael Vaughan had famously remarked - "AB de Villiers is the definition of a cricketing genius." - The above words encapsulated AB de Villiers's 14-year-old cricketing peregrination. 

With sheer tenacity, a surplus of talent, and natural skill, AB de Villiers rose through the tiers dramatically in Jacaranda City. After displaying batsmanship of the highest order in various domestic competitions, AB de Villiers earned his maiden call-up to the South Africa side in 2004. 

The USP of the veteran batsman lies in his unorthodox stroke-making and his ability to outsmart the bowler with a plethora of shots in his armoury.

Labelled as one of the modern-day greats, AB de Villiers has scored a total of 20,014 runs in just 420 matches at an average of 43.42 in International cricket  - a testament to AB de Villiers' versatility and consistency over the years. In his sterling 14-year-old career, the 36-year-old holds the unique record for the fastest fifty and a hundred in ODI cricket.

"AB de Villiers..going...1..2..3.Sold! to Royal Challengers Bangalore." -  AB de Villiers marked his arrival to the Bengaluru franchise. April 8th 2011, Royal Challengers Bangalore acquired the services of the Proteas batsman for a sum of 5 crores. Prasanna Agoram, the former RCB performance analyst, foresaw the cricketing adroitness of AB de Villiers and played a key role in bringing the seasoned batsman to the franchise. Nine years later, AB de Villiers has orchestrated innumerous come-from-behind performances for Royal Challengers Bangalore.

• 1960 - AB de Villiers has amassed 1960 runs in 61 matches which also consists of 15 half-centuries at the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium. 
• 33 - AB de Villiers has scored 33 half-centuries in the Indian Premier League. 
• 154 - Veteran batsman, AB de Villiers has appeared in 154 matches in IPL.
• 229 -  In 2016, AB de Villiers and Virat Kohli knit together a record partnership worth 229 runs against Gujarat Lions. The duo have been involved in a 200-run partnership on two occasions in the Indian Premier League. 
• 84 -  With a total of 84 catches, AB de Villiers ranks second in the list for the 'most number of catches taken by a fielder' in the IPL.

After calling it quits in 2018, AB de Villiers started to ply his trade in various T20 leagues.

Natwest T20 Blast 2019 

Middlesex, one of the most competitive county clubs in England signed the Proteas batsman for the Natwest T20 Blast. However, AB de Villiers didn't disappoint his team as he piled up 348 runs in just 8 matches averaging 69.90. 

Mzansi Super League

Representing Tshwane Spartans, AB de Villiers played a central role in their successful campaign. With 325 runs in 9 matches, AB de Villiers single-handedly piloted the team to the final of the tournament.

Big Bash League

Chris Lynn, Tom Banton, Marnus Labuschagne, AB de Villiers and Ben Cutting - Brisbane Heat sported one of the most fierce batting line-ups in the competition. The veteran batsman, AB de Villiers scored 146 runs in 6 matches at a strike date of 140.38. 

With 4395 runs in 154 matches, AB de Villiers has predominantly been the most bankable player for RCB.
