Tilak Varma on Arshdeep Singh’s “key role” in India’s bowling unit

India pulled off a thrilling win against West Indies in the third T20I after a high-scoring encounter rocked Indore. The Men in Blue were able to defend 223 successfully as Arshdeep Singh played a key role, bagging the Player of the Match award with figures of 3/44.

Talking at the pre-match press conference, India’s vice-captain in T20Is, Tilak Varma, opened up on how Arshdeep was crucial for the Men in Blue in the previous game. He also highlighted Arshdeep’s experience as a major difference-maker in the last clash.

Varma said, “Preparation has been going well. Each and everyone are doing really well. But if you see, I think Arshdeep Singh is the most experienced bowler in our team.”

Explaining how Arshdeep made all the difference, Varma added, “So experience is coming into the play when wickets are flat, especially when opposition like West Indies. So he knows which area to hit and when to swing the ball. So I think that was a key role he was playing in the game.”
