We'll just see initially how the conditions behave – Tilak Varma on India’s potential approach in Hyderabad
With the runs scored in the ongoing T20I series, there is much speculation about how the surface in Hyderabad, the venue for the fourth T20I, might play out. Local boy Tilak Varma highlighted that the Hyderabad surface might play slightly differently than what the teams have seen across the last three contests.
Talking at the pre-match press conference ahead of India vs West Indies 4th T20I, Tilak Varma opened up on the possible conditions of the track in Hyderabad and how players might need to approach, in order to amplify the returns from the surface.
Varma said, “Honestly, I haven't spoke to anyone, but we were discussing that wickets has been changed here. Again, you can't go from the first ball. You should just take T20. In one-day cricket you will take five to six balls like that, but in T20 one, two balls, you will take the time and you will go.”
Explaining how to confront the conditions further, Varma added, “So when you play that, you will get to know that, how the wicket is behaving, what kind of shots we can play, all those things. We have played everywhere. Each and every player has played more than like 50 games. So we have played overseas conditions here as well. So we'll just see initially how the conditions behave and we'll go accordingly how it goes.”
