For me, the real aim and the aspiration is to inspire our fans – Mo Bobat

Ahead of IPL 2024, RCB appointed Mo Bobat as their Director of Cricket. His introduction came as a leash of fresh air as there were a handful of tactical maneuvers, propelling RCB’s humdinger watershed in the second half of the tournament. Despite failing to get past the eliminator, RCB kept their vision intact at the end of the season.

Talking in RCB's Journey to the Finale, Episode 1: The Foundation, Mo Bobat opened up on what was the immediate need of the hour when he was roped in by RCB. He mentioned the fans to be one of their key motivators while also shedding light on the inclusion of Dinesh Karthik as the side’s batting mentor and how it has helped RCB.

Shedding light on the immediate aspiration, Bobat said, “You don't have to spend too long in Bengaluru for someone to remind you that you've got a trophy to win. For me, the real aim and the aspiration is to inspire our fans. We're blessed with incredibly loyal fans and I think our number one task is to inspire them.”

He further added, “How we do that is obviously winning games of cricket, but it's the way we play and the things that we achieve along the way. Even last season, I'm pretty sure that the way we turned our season around was an inspiration to people."

Underlining the importance of Dinesh Karthik, Bobat said, “In DK's case, we were really keen to add him the moment that I was aware that he was contemplating retiring. And in fact, even before then, I thought he was somebody that would really add value as a coach."
