You're trying to prepare them is for the game – Dinesh Karthik on his coaching blueprint at RCB
Like modern-day cricket has evolved, modern-day coaching has also come a long way. It involves a coach going from one end of the world to the other in order to find the perfect method for every individual. RCB’s batting coach and mentor, Dinesh Karthik, has had a palpable impact on the team, most evident in its boldest performance during the season's first game when RCB defeated SRH.
On the latest episode of RCB Bold Diaries, Dinesh Karthik highlighted the approach he takes on as a coach for RCB. DK said, “We have different types of players at different ages and stages in their career. For example, Virat is very experienced, you like take someone like a Tim David, Sheperd, Jitesh, Rajat, quite experienced, I may be missing out a few, but there are also some like Kanishk, there is Vicky Ostwal, there is obviously Vihaan, different players at different places in their careers, so to say. But all of them very capable. We're just trying to understand what each one wants, but what you're trying to prepare them is for the game.”
Linking it up with how playing in the IPL actually helps him get over the challenge, Karthik added, “I've played in IPL, I know the challenge. But with that also comes, what are the kind of good things that happen if there is a bowler in the opponent, just give them a little bit of feedback about what he looks to do.”
He concluded by saying, “Small little nuggets of information that could be very useful because they're elite players. These are players who are dominating in the world of cricket. So there's not too much that you need to do apart from make sure that you're giving them information and they will deal with it in the best way possible.”
