You are the most talented cricketer I have played with – Virat Kohli on AB de Villiers
RCB legend AB de Villiers was inducted into the ICC Hall of Fame, and his very good friend Virat Kohli, penned a heartfelt note to the hard-hitting sensation. With a wide range of strokeplay and his incredible reach, AB de Villiers rewrote the laws of cricketing physics.
With an average over 50 in ODIs and Tests and a strike rate north of 135 in T20Is, ABD was a reckoning force in his playing days. Apart from his batting numbers, AB de Villiers was also a brilliant fielder and a gun wicket-keeper, showing his razor-sharp reflexes.
Kohli's note to de Villiers, which the former posted on social media read, “You are thoroughly deserving of your place – after all, the Hall of Fame is a representation of your impact on the game, and yours has been truly unique. People have always spoken about your ability, and rightly so. You are the most talented cricketer I have played with, the absolute number one."
The letter further stated about the lessons that Virat Kohli learned from ABD while batting together, adding, “You had a crazy amount of belief that you could execute whatever you wanted to on a cricket field, and you normally did. That is why you ended up being so special.”
