When you leave, you want to leave the place in a better position – Virat Kohli

The ICC Champions Trophy 2025 saw Team India squeezing their hearts out as they rolled in phenomenal fashion to lift the crown in Dubai at the expense of New Zealand. It was a show of collective brilliance where all the team members stepped up in some way or the other as India stayed unbeaten throughout the span of the tournament.
Talking in a post-match interview, Virat Kohli pointed out that it was a massive moment for the team as the youngsters ganged up in unison, fending off the opponents in stunning fashion. He was also quick to shower unreserved praises on his teammates who were absolutely phenomenal throughout the tournament.
Virat said, “People have made such impactful knocks, such impactful spells and it’s only a collective effort that can win you a title. I’m just so happy we were able to play as a unit and enjoy ourselves, we’ve had such an amazing time as a team here - in practice sessions, on the field, off the field - it’s been honestly an amazing amazing tournament for us.”
Explaining Shubman Gill’s words of how Kohli tries to help the youngster, the former Indian captain added, “As Shubman said, I try to speak to these guys as much as possible, try to share my experience of how I’ve been able to play for so long, try to step in and improve their game wherever I can. It’s only as they rightly say, when you leave, you want to leave the place in a better position and that’s our effort. That’s what we’re striving for and when eventually we’re finally done at whatever stage, we have a squad that’s ready to take on the world for the next 8-10 years.”
He concluded by stating, “And these guys definitely have the talent to do so and also the game awareness, they’ve stepped up already on so many occasions and played so many impactful innings.”
