When Virat Kohli was pranked into touching Sachin Tendulkar’s feet
After Sachin Tendulkar’s retirement, there was a concern that who would carry forward the legacy of the master. But Virat Kohli, in only a few years since Sachin bid adieu to the game, grabbed the baton with a firm grip and is now taking it forward with his exceptional game ethics and out of the world performances.
But when Virat Kohli made his debut as a teenager Sachin Tendulkar was still a few years away from hanging his boots and some of the senior cricketers like Yuvraj Singh, used this opportunity to prank Virat Kohli who now leads the Indian team in all the three formats.
In a Youtube show called LegendsWithUnacademy, Sachin Tendulkar revealed how the young and innocent Virat Kohli was tricked into touching the feet of Sachin Tendulkar as a mark of respect by senior cricketers.
"I didn't know what was happening. I asked him 'what are you doing?'. Told him that there was no need for this, and such things don't happen. Then he got up and we looked at those guys, they started laughing," Tendulkar recalled.
Sachin also talked about he managed the mental aspect during his career.
"Over period of time I realised that besides preparing physically for a game, you have to prepare yourself mentally also. In my mind, the match started long before I entered the ground. The anxiety levels were very high," Tendulkar said in an interaction organised by Unacademy.
"I felt the anxiety for 10-12 years, had many sleepless nights before a game. Later on, I started accepting that it was part of my preparation. Then I made peace with times I was not able to sleep in the night. I would start doing something to keep my mind comfortable,” he concluded.
