We have to come back strongly – Smriti Mandhana’s message to RCB-W after loss to DC

It was an exhilarating display from the RCB-W captain, Smriti Mandhana, who got off to a flying start with the home team chasing a mammoth 195. Blasting 74 from just 43 balls, a knock that starred 10 fours and three sixes, Mandhana left the Capitals in sheer terror at the start. It was eventually Marizanne Kapp who dismissed Mandhana, after what was a terrific knock from the RCB skipper.

Talking at the post-match presentation, Smriti highlighted the shortcomings for RCB and where it all changed. She also had a more holistic message for women’s cricket, heaping praises on the shift in mindsets which have been instrumental in changing the overall attitude.

Mandhana said, “The way we bowled in the first two matches, we didn't live up to that with our bowling. But one bad day in such a tournament happens, we have to come back strongly. They were plus 15 but we are in the game, but the chat was if myself and Sophie bat till the 14th over then we have a chance.”

She concluded by saying, “Women's cricket is progressing, I have been working on increasing my shot range. We won't be too critical, we didn't bowl and field the way we wanted, it happens but we move on.”
