We had excellent bowling for atleast 18 overs: Faf du Plessis
The weekend couldn’t have been any better for the RCB as the team bagged their third win of the season, upstaging the Mumbai Indians in a clinical all-round display. Harshal Patel led the charge with the cherry in his arms while Anuj Rawat pulled off a brilliant batting display laced with a commanding showdown from Virat Kohli who missed out on a glorious half-century by whiskers.
The captain had loads to say in the post-match conference, expressing how the tide turned in RCB’s favour. Faf said, “Mumbai are a quality team and we had excellent bowling for atleast 18 overs. There was something in it for the bowlers in the first innings. We didn't want to give them a good start. Rohit played some good shots but his wicket was valuable. Akash Deep bowled really good tonight. It was just one of those nights, where you mix bowlers around and they keep getting wickets."
Speaking of the chase, "Very good, Anuj. I spoke about him before the tournament, he has potential and we talk a lot to develop game awareness. Comes down the wicket, shows intent, he's a very good player for the future," said the RCB Skipper.
Anuj Rawat was adjudged the man of the match after a brilliant 66 that led the charge for the Challengers. “Mumbai are a quality team and we had excellent bowling for atleast 18 overs. There was something in it for the bowlers in the first innings. We didn't want to give them a good start. Rohit played some good shots but his wicket was valuable. Akash Deep bowled really good tonight. It was just one of those nights, where you mix bowlers around and they keep getting wickets. (The chase) Very good, Anuj. Comes down the wicket, shows intent, he's a very good player for the future," said the 22-year old left-hander.
RCB will once again be in action on Tuesday that will see them taking on the Chennai Super Kings, another titanic clash that will need the Challengers to be at their best if they are to keep the winning momentum alive.
