Watch: Will Jacks smashes five sixes in a row to score 31 runs in one over in the T20 Blast
Dashing opener Will Jacks was in ominous form during Surrey’s latest T20 Blast clash against Middlesex, smashing seven sixes and eight fours in a 45-ball 96, including 31 runs off a single over.
Jacks, who was signed by RCB for IPL 2023 but was later ruled out due to injury, has been in supreme touch in the T20 Blast, and he yet again proved why he’s one of the most sought-after talents in the shortest format of the game.
The Englishman got to his fifty in just 28 balls in the 9th over, but the real carnage began in the 11th over when leg-spinner Luke Hollman was carted for five sixes in a row.

On the first ball, Jacks sat back and pummelled a back-of-length delivery way over deep mid-wicket and followed it up by getting under a length ball to smash it over long off. His third six was another slap over deep mid-wicket, but perhaps the best of the lot was when Jacks brought his power into play to flat bat a six over covers on the fourth ball.
Hollman ended up overcompensating on the penultimate ball and delivered it right in the slot for Jacks to get down on one knee and deposit it well into the crowd behind the long-on fielder. With the crowd eager to see six sixes in an over, it was quite the anti-climatic end as Jacks ended up completely mishitting a full toss outside the off stump along the ground to deep mid-wicket for just a single.
With nine overs to go, Jacks was on 87 off 37 balls and looked primed to get a century, only to hit a slot ball straight to sweeper cover at the start of the 15th over and depart for a 45-ball 96, comprised of eight fours and seven sixes.
On the back of Jack’s and his opening partner Laurie Evans’ (37-ball 85) powerful strikes, Surrey put on 252/7 in 20 overs, but on a day when run-scoring was at its peak, Middlesex rode on combined brilliance to chase down the target in 19.2 overs and etch the team’s name in history books with the highest chase in T20 Blast history.
