Wanindu Hasaranga spearheaded the Lankan charge as they successfully took out Ireland in the ongoing ICC World Cup Qualifier. Batting first, Sri Lanka piled up 325 on the scorecard, as Dimuth Karunaratne carved a blistering ton, smashing 103.
Sadeera Samawickrama also powered to a crucial 86 that saw Sri Lanka in the driver’s seat at the end of the first half. Ireland was off to a shaky start Andy McBrine and Paul Stirling couldn’t add much for the opening pair. The introduction of Wanindu Hasaranga in the mix changed the game completely as Ireland’s woes compounded.
Hasaranga claimed a fifer and this was his hattrick of five-wicket hauls as he also claimed 11 wickets across the last two games, registering six wickets against UAE and five against Oman. His victims for the day were Andy Balbirnie, Harry Tector, Gareth Delany, Mark Adair and Josh Little.
