Watch - Virat Kohli plucks off a one-hand stunner at second slip in the 1st ODI
Virat Kohli, true to his reputation as one of the best catchers in the sport, plucked off a stunning catch at second slip to send Romario Shepherd packing for a duck in the first ODI between India and West Indies at Barbados.
Attempting a full-blooded cover drive off a length ball delivered by Ravindra Jadeja, Shepherd seemed to be undone by the slight shape away as he edged the ball low to Kohli’s right, with the Indian star staying low and putting out his hand to pouch a jaw-dropping catch.
The dismissal continued to pile misery on West Indies on a day when runs were hard to come by for the hosts, who were completely outplayed by the Indian bowlers.
Skipper Shai Hope was the only batter who put up a decent show of resistance with his 45-ball 43 only the third double-digit score apart from Alick Athanaze (22) and Brandon King (17), both of whom failed to convert their starts.
For India, Kuldeep Yadav (4/6) and Jadeja (3/37) shone with the ball, while Shardul Thakur (1/14), Hardik Pandya (1/17) and debutant Mukesh Kumar (1/22) too chipped in to skittle out West Indies for a paltry 114 from 23 overs.
