Watch – Virat Kohli adds humour to a steadfast day of cricket with a mock celebration after scoring his first boundary
A very fond memory among Indian cricket fans is when Rahul Dravid elicited cheers and a standing ovation from the crowd after he took 40 balls to score a run in a Test match back in 2008.
Indian cricket star Virat Kohli too was involved in a similar moment of humour, albeit involving himself in a funny fist-pump celebration after scoring his first boundary of the innings in the 81st ball he faced.
Leaning forward to caress a cover drive to the boundary off Jomel Warrican, Kohli immediately put up his right fist and threw punches in the air, almost as a sign of relief after toiling hard with a proper display of patience.
Kohli showcased exemplary resilience, batting his heart out like he always loves to do and took a while before he would finally let loose against a gritty Caribbean bowling attack, who exhausted all their options against a high-flying Indian batting line-up.
At the end of the second day’s play, Kohli was unbeaten on 36 off 96 balls, with debutant Yashasvi Jaiswal flying high on 143* as India went into Stumps at 312/2 and a lead of 162 runs to show.
