Watch – Glenn Maxwell celebrates getting to the ODI World Cup’s fastest century with a very special celebration
Glenn Maxwell shattered one of the rarest records in the antiquity of the ODI World Cup as he bettered Aiden Markram’s feat of scoring the fastest century in the history of ODI World Cups by 9 balls. Walking out to bat in the 40th over, Maxi was down to business in no time and what felt like a slaughter up front was just the set up for the imminent extraterrestrial carnage as he brought up his century in just 40 balls.
He scored the first fifty from 27 balls, but what followed suit was absolute decimation as he smashed the Netherlands bowlers to every single nook and cranny of the park. He was relentless, sensational and most importantly a force to reckon with given his range of shots.
Maxwell reached the century landmark with a special shot, as in the 49th over, he swiveled at a waist-high no-ball bowled by Bas de Leede and deposited the ball over the backward square leg fence, soaking in all the applause as he jumped into a celebration for the ages.
The Show erupted into a frenzied paroxysm of celebrations as he fist-pumped the air before screaming his emotions out. He then went onto hug Pat Cummins before finally dedicating that ton to his first child, Logan Maverick Maxwell. You can watch the entire video here:
