Virat Kohli scoring a hundred in the first game scares me a lot – Michael Clarke
Virat Kohli racked up a crucial century in the first Test at Perth as he complemented Yashasvi Jaiswal's mind-boggling 161, propelling India to a formidable total in the second innings after a shaky display in the first that helped the visitors pocket an important win.
Former Australian captain Michael Clarke has pointed out that more than India’s win at Perth, if there is something more for the hosts to be scared of, it is Virat Kohli getting back to form.
Talking on the Beyond23 Cricket Podcast, Clarke made a prediction which was also a message for the Aussies. He made it clear that Virat Kohli is going to rule the roost from hereon and unless the hosts find a way to thwart his might, he will emerge as a dominator in the series.
Clarke said, “Losing a Test match is one thing, but Virat Kohli scoring a hundred in the first game scares me a lot. For me, he will be the leading run-getter for India in this series.”
Kohli was going through a tough time in a run-up to the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. However, the former Indian captain was quick to retaliate at the first chance of redemption Down Under as he scored a match-winning century and will hope to maintain that run of form in the remainder of the series.
