Virat Kohli retains top spot in ODI rankings, Aaron Finch is ranked third in T20Is
Virat Kohli continues to lead the ODI ranking for batsmen. In the latest rankings released by the ICC on Wednesday, Kohli is the leader with 871 points, followed by Rohit Sharma with 855 points. In the Test rankings, Steve Smith is the leader followed by compatriot Marnus Labuschagne.
As far as T20Is are concerned, KL Rahul with 823 points is the second ranked batsmen in the world behind Pakistan’s Babar Azam who has 879 points. Australia RCB batsman Aaron Finch is just three short of Rahul and is at third with 820 points.
Finch, who was added to the RCB’s studded batting line-up for this season, earned some high praise from head coach Simon Katich earlier in the day.
Praising Finch for his ability as a leader and against both spin and pace bowling, Katich said that the Finch right now is at the top of his game.
Moving on, in the bowlers’ ranking, Jasprit Bumrah is the at the second spot behind New Zealand’s Trent Boult who leads the chart with 719 points.
Men in Blue as a team continue to have a good time in the rankings despite not having played any cricket for more than six months now. India are placed second in ODIs and third in both Tests and T20 formats behind England, Australia and New Zealand.
James Anderson who became the first fast bowler to take 600 Test wickets has too leaped into the top 10 of the test bowlers’ ranking, and is now placed at the 8th position.
