Virat is the best batter to have ever played ODI cricket in my books – AB de Villiers
When we talk about the icons of Indian cricket, there is one comparison that runs riot and it involves Virat Kohli and Sachin Tendulkar. The question that still looms large is as to who is the “greatest of all time”, and this debate instantly carves up the cricketing faction into two where one sides with Kohli while the other has reasons to believe that the Master Blaster remains in an unparalleled sphere.
Despite this question being pretty rife in the Indian circuit, particularly among fans, the experts of the game know that the two individuals are epochal greats and have had a phenomenal impact on the sport.
Talking about the duo, AB de Villiers, who is undoubtedly an icon of cricket, opened up on this debate in one of his Q&A sessions on his Youtube channel.
When asked if Virat is the greatest ODI batsman ever, De Villiers said, “There’s no doubt about the fact that Virat Kohli is the greatest batter ever. Let’s settle this here, once and for all. I think he has been one of those explosive batters who have had a bigger impact in a shorter period of time. If you take a look at Virat’s stats, what he has done over the years, especially batting under pressure, second innings chasing, he is certainly the best batter to have ever played ODI cricket in my books.”
