Royal Challengers Bangalore has been occupied by the fact that two of the world’s best batters will be opening the innings for them in all likelihood. Virat Kohli, the former Indian captain will most probably be opening the innings with the erstwhile South African skipper.

The signing that the Challengers have been basking in, Faf du Plessis finally opened up about how Royal Challengers Bangalore welcomed him to their glittering ranks. He was bought for Rs 7 crore which can more or less be termed as a steal when it comes to the South African biffer.

While talking with Rupha Ramani on RevSportz, Faf du Plessis divulged how Virat Kohli personally extended his greetings to welcome the South African opener to the echelons of the Challengers. In fact, the cricketing roster has been abuzz with the speculations of Faf being even named as the captain of the Challengers for the upcoming season.

While speaking on the show, he said, “I just got a message from Virat welcoming me into the squad which was very nice. I and Virat have got a good relationship over the years. Obviously, we have played a lot of competitive cricket against each other, especially international cricket when I was the captain and he was the captain of India. We’re both very competitive personalities, so it would be nice not to compete against him because I hated the fact when someone got me out Virat was running past me and shouting something in my ears.”

“Even through that, especially the last year or two, we started speaking a bit more often and that’s going to be a great opportunity for me to play alongside one of the world’s greatest cricketers we’ve seen. I am looking forward to that,” he said.

Faf was a part of the Chennai Super Kings for a staggering 11 years and his bond was undoubtedly special with the Yellow Army. He was also the second-highest run-scorer in IPL 2021 and fell just 2 runs short of the orange cap holder, Ruturaj Gaikwad.
