Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers are two names those are being revered by all RCB fans. Two exceptionally adept monikers of the sport and well-versed in posting onslaught of bowlers, they have inspired a generation of cricketers to take up the sport. Out of these countless cricketers, one of them is our very own Rajat Patidar.

As he awaits his international debut in the ongoing ODI series against South Africa, he opened up on his reverence for the two RCB giants who Patidar has had the privilege of playing with. Talking about his admiration for ABD and Virat, Patidar spoke at length about how these two have shaped his batting methods.

Talking about the bond that he shared with legends of the game, Rajat said, “Virat, AB - they were all my idols; experienced international players. I felt a little overawed meeting them for the first time. It was a great moment to speak to them for the first time. Watching them all train and bat in the nets, I learnt a lot on how they approach their cricket.”

Rajat Patidar has always been grateful to everyone who has paved his path to the current era of success. VVS Laxman is one of the most important figures who played an elemental role in defining the career path of Rajat Patidar. The fact that he gets to play under Laxman laced with Dhawan’s captaincy makes this opportunity very special for him.

Talking about cricketing luminaries, Rajat said, “Legendary players, if they welcome you in the huddle, it feels motivating," Patidar said with a smile, as he reflected on his first day at the office. "It felt good, I know a lot of the guys. But this is the first time I'm playing with Shikhar [Dhawan] bhai; in fact, I had a chat with him the first time over here itself.”

Underlining the gem of a human being that Dhawan is, he concluded by saying, “I thought how it would be when I talk to him, [and] how I can talk to him, but he himself came up to talk to me. It was nice talking to him, he appreciated my performances and wished me well for my future."
