Video – Jacob Bethell storms his way to a maiden international ton against South Africa

Jacob Bethell continued with his fine run in the ongoing bilateral series against South Africa, as he followed up a half-century he scored at Lord's with his maiden international ton at Southampton.
In the third ODI of the three-match series, Bethell walked out to bat in the 16th over and showcased his aggression straight away. Rocking Nandre Burger for a boundary in the very third ball he faced, he would unleash an early assault on the Proteas. Keshav Maharaj found himself at the wrong end of the firing line when Bethell whacked him for a four and a six in consecutive balls.
After Bethell’s early blitz propelled him to 29 off 20 balls, he decided to hang in the center and keep the scorecard ticking with Joe Root for company. Once he crossed his half-century, starboy Bethell was all set to showcase his star power and flicked the switch, shifting into fifth gear as he peppered the boundaries with ease.
Bethell unleashed his inner beast as the South African bowlers were no match for his solid striking. From 61 off 57, the talented southpaw accelerated to 110 from just 82 balls, leaving behind a trail of carnage. He rocked 13 fours and three sixes, numbers that left the Proteas in utter disarray.
