Vicky Ostwal’s all-round show in Col CK Nayudu Trophy propels Maharashtra to semi-finals
RCB’s newly signed youngster, Vicky Ostwal, put in another commanding performance in the Col CK Nayudu Trophy as Maharashtra qualified for the semi-finals after a lead in the first innings against Jharkhand.
Duking it out in Solapur, Ostwal couldn’t really conjure something solid in the first innings with the bat. He fell for 13 but contributions from his teammate were more than enough to set the tone for Maharashtra.
However, with the ball, Ostwal was phenomenal. He returned figures of 25.4-8-47-4 to put Jharkhand under the pump. He got the crucial wickets of Satya Setu, a set Shubh Sharma, Manishi and Amit Kumar. Maharashtra bundled out Jharkhand for 292, securing a monumental lead of 185 runs.
Ostwal got the chance to open in the second innings and he came up with a solid batting masterclass, rocking 141 runs from 177 balls. He was instrumental in shaping up the charge for Maharashtra as they posted 389/8 in the second innings, walking away with a monumental lead and the qualification for the semis as well.
