“Very grateful” - Gautami Naik on her match-winning knock against Gujarat Giants
Gautami Naik played a very special innings against the Gujarat Giants as RCB powered through to their fifth win on the trot, also booking their qualification spot in WPL 2026. Naik registered her maiden WPL half-century while also becoming the first uncapped player in WPL 2026 to score a fifty. She was the Player of the Match for her clinical performance with the bat.
Talking at the post-match presentation, Gautami spoke at length about how grateful she was. She dedicated the award to her coach and her family who have been her backbone throughout her journey.
Naik said, “Very grateful. Thank God for the opportunity to play here. I enjoyed playing cricket. I just wanted to play somewhere. I did a lot of hard work. My coaches, my Mother, everyone who stood by me, a big thank you to all of them.”
She concluded by stating, “I would like to dedicate this award to my sir and my family. I enjoyed the six I hit and it helped me grow in confidence.”
