Unbeaten India run into in-form England with the U19 World cup up for grabs
In just a day’s span, eleven young warriors will take the battlefield for one final time to decide who must wear the king’s crown. India U19 having made the cut for the fourth consecutive final after drubbing Australia will have to overcome the English hurdle, which will need a lot more than just skill, to lay claim to the hallowed crown.
The Indian batting posted a scintillating display against the Australians despite a rare failure from their openers. Luck aided the captain and the vice-captain in their respective enterprise of greatness and there was some mad striking in the final over to throw the Australians out of contention.
However, England has so far been in fine form that has seen them blow away the likes of Afghanistan in the semi-finals, courtesy of a mighty fine bowling display from their bowlers. They were also in electrifying touch that saw them soaring over South Africa in a comprehensive manner in the quarter-finals. Their bowlers have been in red-hot form as they secured three emphatic victories in the group stages as well.
Two undefeated teams will be trying their luck at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in North Sound, Antigua to seal the fate of an exciting tournament. The track has been pretty conducive to the teams batting first with some herculean tasks left to perform in the second half.
It will be a classic contest of the willows as Angkrish Raghuvanshi will lock horns with a fiery Joshua Boyden. Raghuvanshi has managed to wring out 308 runs at an average of 61.60 while Boyden has managed to snare 13 scalps at a fine strike rate of 18.00.
India’s bowling department will be spearheaded by Ravi Kumar who has been breathing fire even though the numbers aren’t overwhelming to put him on the throne. His spells against Bangladesh and Australia have added another menacing weapon to the already variegated arsenal of India.
They will also be loaded with the likes of Vicky Ostwal, whose enigmatic turn has troubled the batters in the tournament. The Indian spinner has claimed 12 wickets and has been aptly supported by the miserly Rajvardhan Hangargekar breathing fire with some brutal pace.
Both the teams have been electrifying in the field and this contest will be nothing short of a cricketing spectacle for ages to come that will herald the oncoming of a new brand of youth conquering the world.
