Top 5 Indian players to watch out for in the WPL 2027 auction
With the WPL 2027 auction two days away, speculation about the top players on the star-studded list has already started doing the rounds. In a mini-battle of paddles, 146 players will be going under the hammer, featuring 119 Indians and 27 overseas players.
Before the action begins, one of the most significant driving forces of conversation will feature the top players participating in a day-long battle to be picked by the teams. Here’s a quick glance at the top five Indian players to watch out for in the upcoming WPL 2027 auction:
· Titas Sadhu
The last couple of years have been rough ones for Bengal’s pace ace, Titas Sadhu. After a promising start, injuries have caused a major disruption in her flow. However, with 19 international wickets across WT20Is and WODIs at a fairly economical rate, Sadhu will be one of the top names that the teams will be swinging for. Sadhu can generate significant pace, making her a big name on the list.
· Tejal Hasabnis
Despite fairly modest returns in the last couple of games, Tejal Hasabnis was impressive against Australia A, scoring a fine 60 in Mohali. She has been a rising name in Indian women’s circuit with already a half-century in the international echelons while being deemed as the perfect acclimatizer to the conditions around her.
· Gunalan Kamalini
The Tamil Nadu wicket-keeper batter can be an adept finisher under the pump. However, it is her adaptability that changes the entire equation. She can start slow and make up for lost time while she can hit the fifth gear right from the outset of her innings. With 14 matches in WPL already, Kamalini can prove to be quite a force who might spark a mini-battle in the auction room in Kochi.
· Sneh Rana
A proven all-rounder under pressure, Sneh Rana has already shown the world what she is capable of. Her WPL tally of 13 wickets and 136 runs with the latter coming at a strike rate of 130.76 is just a blazing testimony to the kind of impact that she can bring to the table. Rana’s international career has also seen her claim 115 wickets so far across all formats, making her one of the most seasoned campaigners on the auction list.
· Kiran Navgire
The seasoned hard-hitter, Navgire’s exploits in franchise leagues have been worth talking about. With 435 runs from 31 WPL games coming at a strike rate of 134.67 and 74 runs in the West Indies’ premier women’s franchise T20 League coming at a strike rate of 129.82, Navgire can contribute significantly to a team’s batting unit. Navgire can be an adept finisher too which makes her a dangerous contender on the WPL list.
