To get to that Number 1 spot, it does not happen overnight: Sachin Tendulkar urges Indian cricket fans to back the team
Team India crashed out of the ongoing T20 World Cup after a crushing defeat at the hands of England in the semi-final. Ever since India’s drubbing at the hands of the Three Lions, it hasn’t been a kind atmosphere for the Men in Blue on social media especially.
However, Indian cricketing icon, Sachin Tendulkar believes that while the exit from the T20 World Cup needs dissection and amends, the Indian cricketers do not deserve such vitriol. The Master Blaster strongly batted against the fans going all guns blazing at the Indian cricketers.
Speaking to ANI, Sachin said, “I know that the semi-final against England was very disappointing. Let us accept that we did not put up a good total on the board. 168 in Adelaide Oval is not great since the dimensions of the ground are entirely different and the side boundaries are really short. We were also unsuccessful in taking wickets. It was a tough game for us, a bad and disappointing defeat.”
He further added, “To get to that Number 1 spot, it does not happen overnight. The team has to play good cricket over a period of time and it has done that. Let us not judge our team on the basis of this performance. Players also did not want to go out and fail. In sports, these ups and downs are there. We have to be in it together.”
India will be headed to New Zealand for a 3-match T20I and a 3-match ODI bilateral affair that will be starting from 18th of November. Hardik Pandya will be leading the Indian contingent in the T20Is while Shikhar Dhawan will be captaining the Indian platoon in the ODIs.
