Titans eye to maintain clean slate against Sunrisers

The Gujarat Titans have been the only unbeaten team of the tournament so far and they will be hoping to keep the equation intact as they take on an ailing Sunrisers Hyderabad who will be buoyed by their first win of the fray in their last encounter.

The Orange Army will be delighted to see Rahul Tripathi continue with his phenomenal form as he hammered a crucial 44 against the Super Giants and a match-winning 39 against the Chennai Super Kings. For the Sunrisers Hyderabad, their batting continues to be a major point of concern with no leading performances until now. Kane Williamson has not hit his straps yet and the numbers with the willow are just downright modest for them to scratch the surface.

The Titans have somehow managed to gain the superpower of Midas as whatever they have touched until now has turned to gold. They blew away the Lucknow Super Giants with a phenomenal bowling display in the season opener while the Delhi Capitals were absolutely no match for their bowling brilliance.

The Punjab Kings managed to drag the game until the dying extent but Rahul Tewatia carved two titanic sixes that launched them across to the other side of the shores, sending the Gujarat concourse into a frenzied bout of exhilarations. The best part about the Titans is that more than individual showdowns of brilliance, the team has relied on the collective display of their players and the result is evident for everyone to witness.

For the Sunrisers, it won’t be an easy outing as they will have to come up with a solid statement if they are to keep the newfound momentum alive and for the Titans, a win will guarantee them the status of the runaway leaders at the moment and open up a significant gap between themselves and their chasers for the upcoming days.

Venue Watch:

Dr. DY Patil Stadium has so far been the only surface that has sided marginally with the bowlers as an emerging presence of green hasn’t been kind enough to the wielders of the willow. Rather than being a questionable one, the surface is trickier that makes it a bit more difficult for the batters as it gives them hope and then keeps them guessing until that last ember, not allowing them to be preemptive of their strike. The team chasing will have a slight advantage given the early erosion of the surface.
