There is aggression and a controlled madness in Virat Kohli’s captaincy: Ramiz Raja

Team India have turned into a winning machine in the last 4 years under the captainship of Virat Kohli. This period has also coincided with 2 away Test series victories in Australia. Not only have they been competitive but also a winning unit capable of consistently being a threat overseas. Ramiz Raja, the former Pakistan cricketer-turned-commentator has now stated what the Indian team is doing that is making them successful, much like the Pakistan team he played in under Imran Khan.
Ramiz Raja credits Captain Kohli and his aggressive approach for the success Team India have enjoyed, saying, “India have turned into a brilliant side. There is aggression and a controlled madness in Virat Kohli’s captaincy. And I believe, the game plan is based on aggression which helps in releasing the negativity from the system and sets you free."
Raja reserved high praise for Team Captain Kohli's captaincy, likening it to that of the legendary Imran Khan. “So, India is doing what we used to do under Imran Khan’s leadership. So, I feel happy. There were 2-3 boxes which India weren’t ticking earlier and they have been doing it for over a decade now. That’s why they have become one of the favorite teams across the world. Wherever they tour, they win,” he said, talking to India News.
Winning matches overseas, Raja believes is the key to asserting dominance as a unit. “Unless you don’t win overseas matches, you don’t express your command. And we see how well they performed in Australia with a B Team,” he added.
Speaking of the upcoming ICC World Test Championship final, Raja was of the opinion that India have players with more 'natural abilities', which might come in handy. “The sooner they acclimatize the condition, the better for Team India. New Zealand have arrived early and they do have the advantage. But overall, India is a more talented side than New Zealand. The Kiwis follow a single game plan and if it fails, they lose. Whereas India have the game plan and are also backed by natural talent. Sometimes when your game plan backfires, you win matches relying upon the natural abilities,” he concluded.
