The way he batted, my number 4 is in trouble: Suryakumar Yadav on Dinesh Karthik
Suryakumar Yadav delivered a swashbuckling display in the recently concluded series against South Africa where he was the leading run-scorer for Team India with 119 runs, a lion’s share of which came in the first couple of games.
With a staggering average of 59.50 and an incredible strike rate of 195.08 in the three-match series, he continued with his impressive form that also stayed witness to the decimation of Australians in a three-match T20I series. Despite all the eclipsing brilliance from Surya, the final contest of the T20I series finished on a reticent note for India’s middle-order hero.
Surya was named the Player of the series for his crackling display that also toppled multiple records in the second contest where India pulled off the unthinkable as they lifted their maiden T20I series against the Proteas.
Talking about the countless records that he smashed along the way and the silent encounter that finished the series for him on a humbling note, Surya said, “Not really, I didn't check the stats. But I think that was the demand of the game. My friends send these things (stats and numbers) on whatsapp, I don't follow it. The thought process was the same, I just wanted to enjoy. I had to take a step back and build a partnership with him. Didn't work today.”
He also heaped praises on his fellow teammate and RCB finisher, Dinesh Karthik who staged an exceptional show of domination after coming out to bat at number 4 where he racked up a scintillating 46 from just 21 balls.
“DK needed some game time, and I think the way he batted, my number 4 is in trouble. I haven't thought much about it, but I am looking forward to it,” quipped SKY. Both SKY and DK will be travelling to Australia on 6th of October to be a part of the preparatory camp before the two warm-up games that will be followed by the onset of the all-important T20 World Cup.
