The Milestone Man Virat Kohli on the verge of breaking multiple records
India skipper Virat Kohli is on the verge of breaking a host of records when he steps onto the field in the upcoming ODI series against England. It has been 488 days since Kohli has scored a ton in international cricket, looking at the recently concluded T20Is against the Three Lions, the skipper seems to have regained his batting tenacity to score big runs.
If the talismanic batsman scores a century in the first ODI, he will equal Sachin Tendulkar's (20 centuries) record for most centuries by an Indian batsman on home soil. He is also one century short of equaling the most centuries scored by an Indian batsman in one-day internationals against England (currently held by Yuvraj Singh with 4 centuries).
If he manages to score a century, he will script yet another record in surpassing Ricky Ponting with the most international centuries as a captain across all three formats.
Top five players with most centuries as captain across all formats
Player | Centuries |
Ricky Ponting | 41 |
Virat Kohli | 41 |
Graeme Smith | 33 |
Steve Smith | 20 |
Michael Clarke | 19 |
All three ODI matches against England will be played at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune behind closed doors.
