Such a beautiful place to be in – Virat Kohli reflects on how responsibilities unleash his peak performance
Virat Kohli has been a beacon of brilliance for the Indian cricket team and the Royal Challengers Bengaluru for almost a decade and a half. He has not only led the teams by example but has also been a formidable force as an athlete, both with the bat and on the field.
Speaking in a candid conversation titled ‘Mind over everything: Virat Kohli on peak performance’ at the RCB Innovation Lab Indian Sports Summit powered by Leaders, Virat opened up about the mental aspect of the game that drives him now. He highlighted the ability to shoulder responsibilities and how that unleashes the very best in him.
Shedding light on his current headspace, Virat said, "I'm wired in a way that I always want more responsibility and more load. That’s where I seem to be at my absolute best.”
Adding further he said, “You have no time to think about yourself. That’s such a beautiful place to be in. If I can play for a larger cause, a larger purpose, then I can perform beyond the abilities I think I have."
