"Still the best player in the world regardless of form" – Chris Gayle's massive praise for Virat Kohli

Virat Kohli has been in the midst of a bit of a lean patch but knowing the former Indian captain, he always loves a challenge or two. With the ICC Champions Trophy coming up, his former RCB teammate, Chris Gayle, pointed out that this is one particular juncture that every player has to go through and it is temporary.
As quoted by the Indian Express, Chris Gayle spoke on the sidelines of a media event that Kohli is a beast and it’s just a matter of time before he hits his element again. Gayle also pointed out that VK might very well be en route to breaking the former’s record of 791 runs from 17 matches at an average of 52.73. Kohli currently holds 529 runs from the 13 games that he has played and will need 263 runs to leapfrog the Jamaican hard-hitter.
Gayle said, “He is still the best player in the world regardless of the form, Virat Kohli is still the best player, the stats prove that, how many centuries across formats he has scored as well. It’s just one of those things that we cricketers go through in patches. I know it is coming at the back end of his career as well, but these things do happen, so he just needs to pick himself up and come back again.”
Talking about Kohli potentially breaking his Champions Trophy record, Gayle added, “It is easy for him just to get 200 runs. I don’t know how many games they will be playing but I am sure he can get over 200 runs, and I am sure he will get a century for sure, so it’s just a matter of time before he goes on to break that record.”
