Social media abuzz as RCB acquire Bengaluru team in the Women’s Premier League
After vehement back and forth in the deliberation rooms and some intense moments of anticipations, the much-awaited WPL was eventually given its due share of flesh and bones as the five teams were announced with the winning bids for the tournament. Amongst 9 initial bidders, Royal Challengers Bangalore managed to secure the Bengaluru team at a staggering INR 901 crore.
There were a flurry of posts that did the rounds on social media for the Royal Challengers Bangalore.
Legend of the game and the man for whom RCB has been the home from the very first IPL season, Virat Kohli said, “Well played, RCB! So thrilled that my team has won the bid for the Bengaluru Women’s Premier League team. Can’t wait to cheer for our women in Red and Gold.”
RCB’s Director of Cricket Operations, Mike Hesson penned, “What a great opportunity to continue to grow the game we all love. We are immensely proud that RCB has been able to secure a Bengaluru Women’s Premier League team as well. Can’t wait to see you all supporting the women in Red and Gold from the stands.”
Seasoned leg-spinner, Karn Sharma said, “Thrilled and proud that my team RCB has bagged the Bengaluru Women’s Premier League team as well. Can’t wait to support the women in Red and Gold from the stands.”
Twitter was abuzz with the news of RCB acquiring the team as well. On the historic day, Female Cricket’s official Twitter handle quoted Danielle Wyatt’s a year-old tweet saying that she would love to play for RCB.
