From chants of 'Sachin Sachin' to 'Virat Virat', the Indian cricket fan has seen it all over the last 3 decades. Two greats of the sport have pulled off countless heroics at the grandest stage of all, fighting tooth and nail for their nation.

RCB boss Sanjay Bangar drew a comparison between Sachin and Virat and highlighted how the two appear similar in their hunger for squeezing out their best for their nation when it comes to the grandest stages like that of the World Cup.

Over the last couple of years, Virat has equalled Sachin’s records away from home and in the contest against Bangladesh, he surpassed Tendulkar in terms of the runs scored Down Under. Despite Australia being the burial site for legends of the game, Virat Kohli transcends himself beyond the ordinary and has scored at a stunning average of 55.94 across all formats.

Talking on Star Sports, Sanjay Bangar stated, “All great batsmen look up to these tournaments as the marquee events in the sense that they love the big stage. They love to perform when the eyes of the world are on them. That's what they train for. It gives them that opportunity to try and raise their game that much more. We saw that when I was playing with Sachin Tendulkar and now with Virat Kohli.”

Tendulkar’s long wait of lifting the World Cup met its end in 2011 and Virat Kohli was just getting into the groove back then. 11 years later, Virat is now India’s poster boy and the saga of going all in for the prized silverware lies heavily on the broad shoulders of King Kohli.

Bangar concluded by saying, “In his first World Cup, in 2011, he had a role to play but that was not the major one. After that, he is somebody on whom the team has depended quite a bit and can relate to him in terms of how India finishes in major tournaments. He is obviously one who looks forward to the World Cup and if he has played for this long, obviously all the records are going to tumble.”
