Royal Challengers Bangalore to begin hotel quarantine from today
All the Indian players in the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) roster are set to arrive in the city today and begin a 7-day quarantine before heading to the UAE.
Speaking to Deccan Herald, the RCB Chairman, Mr Sanjeev Churiwala stated that the players have been well briefed on the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) enforced by the BCCI.
The players will enter the quarantine period with Covid-19 negative certificates and will be tested multiple times during their stay. According to the SOP, the players will need to complete six rounds of testing before they start their training sessions in the UAE.
“We have tied up with a reputed institution to conduct the Covid-19 tests. Only those who test negative after two-three rounds of testing will travel to the United Arab Emirates (UAE),” Mr. Churiwala said.
Cricket Australia (CA) on Friday announced a 21-member squad for their white-ball series against England.

Moeen Ali, Aaron Finch, Josh Philippe, and Kane Richardson, who are part of the Australia-England limited-overs series, will miss the first few matches of the IPL. However, the South African trio of Chris Morris, AB de Villiers, Dale Steyn and Sri Lanka's Isuru Udana will join the squad before the tournament begins.
Asked about the travel procedures of the overseas players, the RCB Chairman said: “We have discussed travel plans with our overseas players. We will be soon scheduling their travel to the UAE. For now, Indian players will come to Bengaluru in chartered flights.”
During the 7-day hotel quarantine, Mike Hesson and Simon Katich will engage with the players virtually to ensure that the team gels well ahead of the tournament.
“Whatever happens before a tournament, the same kind of planning will happen now, albeit in the virtual world. Players will be involved in team bonding and strategising sessions,” Mr. Churiwala added.
