In just ten days from now, Team India will be battling Pakistan in their T20 World Cup opener at the Melbourne Cricket Ground hoping to avenge their earlier defeat to their arch-rivals a year back in the precursor edition of the tournament.

Whenever it is India versus Pakistan, the mercury is always rising and needless to say that before the war of the willow and the leather kicks off in the 22 yards, there will be countless wars that will be fought off the field. A major heated discourse ahead of the mega-battle is that who all will be granted the opportunity to find themselves at the juncture of history.

Talking at the captain’s conference for the T20 World Cup, Rohit talked about the evolution of the game and how he was introduced to the mix back in 2007. He also emphasized on the fact that if you are playing modern day cricket, you should know that taking risk is the ultimate game-changing factor.

Rohit said, “It's been a long time, since 2007. When I was picked for the WC, I didn't go with any expectations. I just wanted to enjoy, that was my first-ever World Cup. I had no understanding until we won it. From there, till now, it's been a long journey. The game has evolved, you can see the difference in how it is played now in comparison to then.”

Highlighting the change in modern day cricket, Rohit highlighted, “140-150 was a good score back then. Now, teams try to reach there in 14-15 overs. Teams take risk without worrying about the result now. That's something our team is also trying to do. This is the kind of format where there's risk, but there's high rewards as well. We will be prepared to do it as well. That's my understanding from 2007 to 2022. Lot of things has changed.”
