Rohit Sharma clears the fitness test at National Cricket Academy
Senior India batsman Rohit Sharma on Friday cleared the fitness test at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) facility in Bengaluru. The 33-year-old is expected to leave for Australia on December 14. According to the Australian government's norm, he will have to mandatorily undergo 14 days of quarantine before heading back to action.
Rohit had sustained a hamstring injury against Kings XI Punjab during the Dream11 IPL 2020, which forced him to miss the white-ball leg of Australia tour. In a bid to regain full fitness, the Mumbaikar headed to NCA for a rehabilitation programme. The fitness test was held under the watchful eyes of the NCA director, Rahul Dravid.
"Rohit has cleared the fitness Test and will soon be flying out to Australia," a senior BCCI official was quoted as saying to PTI.
Team India will be without the services of skipper Virat Kohli after the first Test in Adelaide. Rohit Sharma's availability for the last two tests comes as a massive boost for the team management ahead of the all-important four-match Test series against Australia.
