Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli to return to the Indian squad for the Bangladesh tour
Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli will be returning to the international fold post the T20 World Cup in the upcoming Bangladesh tour where India will be playing three ODIs and two Test matches. Not only will it be a return of the two of India’s batting aces but Ravindra Jadeja will also be back to the Indian ranks after being ruled out of the side in the Asia Cup following a knee injury.
Rajat Patidar who received his maiden international call-up earlier this year against South Africa has been also called up to the Indian side for the ODIs against Bangladesh. Despite being a part of the squad, Patidar couldn’t crack into playing XI in the South African series and will be hoping to break into the starting eleven during the upcoming fray against Bangladesh.
India will be travelling to Bangladesh for the first time since 2015 while this will be the first time since 2010, the Men in Blue will be playing a series in Bangladesh that comprises more than a single Test. India is yet to be defeated by Bangladesh in the longest format of the game. This series is also going to be a crucial one for India as the fate of the World Test Championship still hangs in balance. If India has to make the cut for the final, they will have to eke out the maximum from this series.
The tour is scheduled to begin with the ODIs slated to be played in Mirpur between the 4th and 10th of December. This will be followed by the opening Test at Chattogram on December 14th while the series will conclude at Mirpur with the final Test slated to be played from December 22nd to 26th.
